How about a little break to Brussels?

sarahThe beer and chocolate are reason enough to take a trip to Brussels, but while you’re there we thought you might like to know of a few other places you can visit.

Pop down to the Archiduc that’s repeated been named as the coolest bar in Brussels, or watch the waiters race at Hapje Tapje festival in September. Brussels is a beautiful city and as it’s only 2 hours away by train from St Pancras its perfect for a little break away.

Share with everyone the places you loved on your little break or let me know where you go when in Brussels. I can’t wait to hear from you! Sarah

While it may seem like we plug many events at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts on this site, this is mainly because of the sheer frequency of innovative events which are on offer there. Jazz Festival Marni Flagey
I am reminded of the time my friend, meaning to order the cocktail Frilly Tutu – instead asked for a Tutti Frutti and got a very odd look. This was because he couldn’t quite get the name right. Much the same is probably of the Jazz Festival Marni Flagey. So-called because it...  [Read more]

Brussels this December really is the place for the whole family to be.  While there is no doubting that the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is great family fun, it pales in comparison with Winter Wonders in Brussels. Taking place right in the heart of Brussels – the Place Sainte...  [Read more]

Little Christmas Break to Brussels
On the last weekend in November a group of sleepy bloggers meet at our usual meeting place under the clock at St Pancras for our final Little Break of the year to the Christmas market in Brussels. After a leisurely breakfast on the Eurostar we arrived in St Pancras and headed to...  [Read more]

Belgian Cinema Fete

Belgian Cinema Fete
Belgian cinema is often derided. This is clearly unfair. Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne have won the Palme D’or at the Cannes film festival twice and In Bruges was a terrific film. Perhaps because of this general derision towards Belgian cinema, the Belgians themselves tend to have...  [Read more]

An Evening at a Brussels Museum

An Evening at a Brussels Museum
Autumn brings with it moody dark evenings, quieter streets, and woolly hats. But in Brussels it also brings with it a cultural extravaganza. This is because, every Thursday night up to and including the 17th of December, one can enjoy An Evening at a Brussels Museum. Make no mistake:...  [Read more]

Sexties at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts

Sexties at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts
Sexties really is a criminal name for an exhibition. Not only is it an awful pun, it’s just not punny (I’ll get my coat…) Nonetheless, it probably is quite a good name: for the exhibition currently on at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts (continuing until the 3rd of January 2010)...  [Read more]

Brussels Innova Fair

Brussels Innova Fair
Brussels Expo, as the equivalent of Excel or Earls Court in London, hosts many quirky events throughout the year.  But none of them can be quite like the Brussels Innova Fair. To summarise it, is unfair to the enormous variety of inventors who showcase their work. But the purpose...  [Read more]

Verbindingen/Jonctions Festival

Verbindingen/Jonctions Festival
You might think that a festival called Verbindingen/Jonctions would be something of a confused mess – the organisers couldn’t choose to do one thing or the other and in the end they ended up doing both to a dreadful standard. The reality, is that Jonctions is a bi-annual multi-disciplinary...  [Read more]
