Paris is an incredibly beautiful city so it seems to me that to organise a photography exhibition in Paris which has a focus on Arab and Iranian photography is somewhat odd. Nonetheless, Paris does not have a monopoly on beautiful scenes and the richness of Paris Photo – 23 different countries will be represented – suggests an impressive event.
Indeed, the Paris Photo website argues that it is ‘the world’s leading event for photography’. Whilst that is hard to evaluate objectively, what is clear is that this exhibition will have some of the world’s very top photographers exhibiting their work. If you want to see excellent photography, Paris Photo is the place to be.
With this year’s focus on Arab photography, the pictures are sure to show an enormous vibrancy and diversity. Coupled with the disparity of photographic practices used by photographers who come from as far afield as Portugal, Russia, and Tunisia, the photos are sure to show a brilliant range and uniformity will not be a problem.
Taking place at the Carrousel de Louvre from the 19th to the 22nd of November, what is definite about Paris Photo is that it brings together the greatest galleries and editors from across the globe to Paris. And considering how far one would normally have to travel to see all these great photographers, having them under one roof makes this a must-see exhibition.

Immerse yourself in another culture and discover more about the places you visit. Did you know that the Belgian Artist Magritte was born 110 years ago? Did you know that Gustave Eiffel who designed the Eiffel tower also invented suspenders?
