Brussels is known for its waffles, its chocolate, its French fries and most importantly, for its numerous types of beer. In addition to the regular selection of Belgium beer, the famous Lambic style of beer is only brewed in and around Brussels. The Kriek (cherry beer) is also very popular and is available in almost every bar or restaurant.
So, the Beer Weekend is a ‘must go’ event for Beer lovers from all around the world. This traditional event happens in the first weekend of September and some of the top Belgian breweries participate, offering their best selections of beers at very reasonable prices.
As you might know, Belgians drink 93 liters of beer a year on average which has led Belgium to be one of the top 10 countries in regards to beer consumption in the world. So, this is a great opportunity to understand why they are so passionate about beer and to be surrounded by what is considered to be ‘the most beautiful square in Europe’.
